Aurora Legend: Not Included

Authors Robert E. Bartholomew and George S. Howard write about several historic cases in their UFOs & Alien Contact, hence the subtitle “Two Centuries of Mystery”. Despite a lengthy description of multiple airship reports in a section called Wishful Thinking: The Great American Airship Mania of 1896-87 in Part I: Strange Things Seen in the Sky, there is no mention of Aurora whatsoever. However, Bartholomew & Howard do include other airship stories from April 17th, 1897, the same day that the Aurora legend was supposed to have taken place, according to S. E. Haydon‘s report published in the Dallas Morning News two days later on April 19th, 1897.
